ORIGIN: Aspergillus spp.

EPIDEMIOLOGY:

TRANSMISSION:

  • Inhalational: For aspiration of contaminated dust.

 

CLINIC:

  • Growth of white or yellowish granulomas in the lungs and air sacs
  • Apathy and sleepiness.
  • Absence of appetite, anorexia.
  • Ruffled feathers.
  • Shortness of breath (dyspnea, sneezing and fatigue).
  • Death after a long illness.

 

DIAGNOSIS:

By growing crops or cytology to observe the hyphae. X-ray to locate these granulomas.

TREATMENT:

  • Ketoconazole (4-8 weeks)
  • Amphotericin B (4-8 weeks)
  • Rifampicin (the onset of illness)
  • Vitamins A and B.
